SegmentShare
SegmentShare
To help Group broadcasters look for ways to improve efficiency, Sundance Digital found an activity that was duplicated at stations everywhere and SegmentShare was born. Typically, after recording a satellite delivered program, an operator must trim the content and mark the program's segment timings into the Sundance automation database. If more than one station in a Group ingests the same show, then the trimming and segmenting activities are repeated at each facility.
SegmentShare offers a means of sharing this information between stations. With SegmentShare, each station still ingests their own satellite feeds, but only one station need do the trimming and segmenting. That operator can upload the segment data to a shared database, where other stations in the Group can access it, match it to their recordings and apply the timings directly to their Sundance database. Applying this feature across many stations with multiple daily hours of recording, a Group can realize a significant workload reduction and free up staff for other tasks.
The SegmentShare application can be hosted on any computer safely inside the group's WAN, ensuring secure access between only the appropriate workstations.
