Intelli-Sat
Intelli-Sat
Intelli-Sat is an extremely powerful and versatile tool to manage and automate satellite and other incoming feed recording tasks. Whether integrating tightly with Titan and FastBreak NXT Automation or operating as a stand alone product, Intelli-Sat brings an unmatched level of media management and device control to the satellite recording process. The current version of Intelli-Sat is a third generation release.
Distributed Control
One of Intelli-Sat's most appealing features is its distributed control architecture. In traditional satellite record packages, everything resides in Master Control. The Programming department typically generates a printed list of recordings to be performed, and then the MC operator must retype that information into the automation system.
Intelli-Sat consists of two separate applications: Schedule Manager and Record Manager.
The Schedule Manager program handles all requests for satellite feed recordings. It is licensed for up to 10 networked desktops within the facility. This allows Programming, Promotion, News, or other departments to manage their own recording needs by entering information directly into the schedule management system.
The Record Manager resides in Master Control to handle the actual recording process. Its display is tailored for Master Control operations and shows all active and upcoming record events, as well as any errors or potential conflicts which may occur. If necessary, the on-duty operator can override the schedule or perform an ad hoc recording. Device control is handled through Sundance's network-based SIDON architecture.
Tight Integration with Titan and FastBreak NXT Automation
Although Intelli-Sat operates very well as a standalone package, the real power of the system is realized when it is integrated with Sundance automation. Once a program is recorded via Intelli-Sat, all of its information is transferred directly into the automation media database.
The operator must simply review the show's segment information and verify that it is ready for play-to-air. On the actual air date, the program's information will appear on the traffic log, and automation will schedule the tape or server element without further operator intervention. At the end of the broadcast day, show information is returned to the Traffic department in the "As-Run" file for reconciliation.
With Intelli-Sat's distributed information architecture, program details need only be typed into the system once. Once the Programming or other using department enters the information, the show will be recorded, played-to-air, and reconciled without the data ever having to be re-entered or changed.
Ease of Use
Intelli-Sat is extremely straightforward. It offers both ease of use for scheduling by non-engineering staff, as well as the detailed technical data needed by Master Control. The Schedule Manager interface provides Wizards to guide novice users through the process of scheduling a recording event, and will not advance to the next screen until all essential information has been entered. The software also maintains detailed program templates that reduce the amount of keyboard data entry required for recurring events.
In the News Room
Intelli-Sat excels at recording news feeds. Producers can schedule directly from their desktops and be assured that every event will be recorded accurately. Intelli-Sat is currently in-use bringing incoming news feeds directly into station video servers for non-linear editing before going to air.
Multiple Configurations Available
Depending on facility needs, Intelli-Sat may be supplied as a simple scheduling tool or as a comprehensive solution to manage the entire process, from Dish/Receiver control to signal routing to recording.
Intelli-Sat is available in three configurations: Scheduling only, Scheduling and Recording (including router control), or the full package with Dish/Receiver control. All configurations are available within a Sundance Automation system (Titan or FastBreak NXT Automation) or as a standalone package. In addition, we offer a PBS-specific edition designed to meet the unique needs of the Public Television community. If the facility has an existing dish/receiver control system by CompuSat, Intelli-Sat can be interfaced to it. Please contact Sundance Digital for details.
